Bude is situated on the North Cornwall coast amidst miles of sandy coastline in either direction.\u00a0 Each beach has its own individual character, from Widemouth Bay, one of the world\u2019s most famous surfing beaches, with its vast expanse of open sand, through to Summerleaze with its famous Sea Pool and many attractive rock pools.<\/p>\t <\/div> <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Water based sports<\/h3>\nBeing so close to the sea, there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy a variety of water-based sports and excellent instruction.\u00a0 Several of the local beaches are popular with surfers who offer lessons and equipment hire, for example, Bude Surfing Experience<\/a>\u00a0at Summerleaze and\u00a0Freewave Surf Academy<\/a> at Widemouth. Both companies offer Stand Up Paddle too; at Summerleaze, learners also have access to Bude Sea Pool and Bude Canal, which are great resources for SUP learners.\n\nNew for this season from Freewave Surf, you can try a\u00a0late<\/a>-night surf during the long summer evenings, where you can surf with an instructor,\u00a0followed by a delicious BBQ and toasty beach fire!\n\nFor any adrenaline junkies, put your nerve to the test and try Coasteering<\/a>!\u00a0 Groups go out daily amongst some of the most breathtaking landscapes around the British coastline, where you will see masses of wildlife from seals to peregrine falcons.\n\nThere are plenty of other, less extreme water-based pastimes available too, from bodyboarding in the sea to hiring canoes and taking out rowing boats on the canal.\u00a0 Shoreline\u00a0<\/a>offers kayaking, sea kayaking, surf kayaking and Canadian canoeing.

Action sports instruction\n<\/strong><\/h3>\nIf you fancy some sporting action that does not involve getting wet, then here are some of our favourites:\n\nRock climbing and abseiling<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013Experience the fabulous coastline from a cliff face with\u00a0Shoreline Extreme Sports<\/a>. Learn how to abseil down 100 ft rock face \u2013 both introductory and advanced rock climbing courses are available with very experienced and highly qualified instructors.\n\nGo Karting<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a great family day out with Karts and tracks for all abilities and available to drivers from just 3 years old!\u00a0\u00a0Kartworld\u00a0<\/a>is about 50 minutes away, just off the A38 near Liskeard.\n\nZip Wire and Giant Swing<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 for those with a head for heights, check out the\u00a0Adrenalin Quarry<\/a>\u00a0to zip wire over a flooded quarry and experience zero gravity on the UK\u2019s tallest Giant Swing!\n\nHere\u2019s a video of the experience!<\/a>\n

Golf courses and driving ranges\n<\/strong><\/h3>\nBude is well-served for keen golfers with a number of courses in close proximity:\n\nBude Golf Club<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 is an 18-hole links golf course in the centre of Bude with spectacular sea views. Par 71.\n\nIvyLeaf Golf Course\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 2 miles away and just off the A39 is\u00a0Ivyleaf\u2019s 9 hole parkland course<\/a>. This 2300 yard Par 32 course welcomes beginners and being on the top of a hill, makes for interesting shots on a windy day!\u00a0 01288 321592\n\nHolsworthy Golf Club<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 8 miles away (over the border!) is the Holsworthy course, reputed to be the best maintained parkland course in Devon. Par 69\n\nLaunceston Golf Club<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 16 miles away, Launceston is a challenging course for all standards of golfer. Par 70.\n\nIvyleaf Driving Range\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 next to the\u00a0Ivyleaf Golf Course<\/a>\u00a0is an undercover, floodlit driving range, open 7 days and ideal for sharpening your technique.\u00a0 There is also a Golf Pro base there for tuition. \u00a0Call 01288 321592\n
